I remember the rumors before Red Dead Redemption 2 was released: You have a normal minimap with markers and everything. That being said, it really isn't that hard to come up with solutions. Why does a game series known for an immersive big open world now have to provide a streamlined watered down experience? So it fits your needs? What about those that crave for an Elder Scrolls like Morrowind? Do they not deserve one game being made that way for them because that game wouldn't target you? I think there are a lot of easy solutions to this, so this doesn't need to be "hardcore" against "casual" at all.īut isn't it kinda selfish as well to demand that every game is tinkered to ones own needs? There are dozens of Triple-A games coming out each year and hundreds of good smaller games on top.

So Of COURSE the industry will automatically adapt and cater to the people who actually pay their bills. In fact, I suspect that if you're gaming all day long then you probably don't have the money to pay for those games anyway and pirate them instead. They are just too niche to support an entire industry.
I'm not advocating for games to be dumbed down or spoon-fed but what hard-core gamers almost always fail to understand is that they are not the target demographic. If I have two hours to play, I don't want to spend one just running headlessly throughout the map to find the stupid NPC or mcguffin relevant to the quest.Įdit: I'm getting quite some comments that are completely missing the point.
Yeah, the problem with that is that the player base has gotten older, and probably the majority of us only gets to play a few hours a week.
